چکیده
OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between alpha 1-antitrypsin (A1AT), adiponectin, leptin, blood glucose, and insulin protein levels in human serum and obesity. METHODS Forty-eight subjects with normal blood glucose levels and average age of 32.4+/-5.1 years were enrolled in this study. The study took place in the Reproductive Center, The Second Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, China between June and July 2011. The height and weight were measured for calculating the body mass index (BMI) and grouped according to BMI. Fasting venous blood were drawn, and then serum levels of A1AT, adiponectin, leptin, blood glucose and insulin were measured by the ELISA method. The Statistics Package for Social Sciences Version 16.0 software was applied to process statistical data on A1AT, adiponectin, leptin, blood glucose and insulin protein levels, and discover the correlation between them. RESULTS Alpha 1-antitrypsin and adiponectin levels decreased as the BMI increased; leptin and insulin levels increased with BMI. Both correlations were statistically significant. Alpha 1-antitrypsin negatively correlated with leptin and insulin, but was not significant (r=-0.248 and r=0.166, p=0.0 and p>0.01); but there was no significant positive correlation with adiponectin (r=0.14, p>0.01). CONCLUSION Alpha 1-antitrypsin correlates closely with obesity, and is related to other factors such as leptin, adiponectin, and insulin. Alpha 1-antitrypsin might be used as a clinical biomarker and be a potential target for treating obesity.

Comparison The Activity Rate of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin in Obese with normal weight People
Background & Objective: Obesity is one of the most important global health priorities as far as it increases illnesses and disorders the life quality. Alpha-1-Antitrypsin (AAT) is the most abundant serum protease inhibitor and prevents tissue degradation through proteases. Hence, its defect or deficiency significantly increases the risk of various diseases. AAT may be involved in the developm...
متن کاملDetermination of Alpha 1-Antitrypsin Phenotypes and Genotypes in Iranian Patients
Alpha 1-antitrypsin (AAT) or alpha 1-protease inhibitor (PI) is the principal inhibitor of proteolytic enzyme in serum. Its phenotypic variability has been reported to be associated with liver, lung diseases and rheumatoid arthritis in humans. There is much documentation about high risk phenotypes of PI in some regions of the world, however, there are no reliable reports on these phenotypes and...

Background: One of the genetic risk factors for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is deficiency of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin (A1AT). There is no exact statistics about the prevalence of this disease in different regions of Iran. The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of alpha-1 antitrypsin (A1AT) deficiency in COPD patients in Kerman, Iran. Metho...
متن کاملFree light chains: potential biomarker and predictor of mortality in alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency and usual COPD
BACKGROUND Circulating free light chains (FLCs) can alter neutrophil migration, apoptosis and activation and may be a biomarker of autoimmune disease and adaptive immune system activation. These pathogenic roles could be relevant to lung disease in alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency (A1ATD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). METHODS Total combined (c)FLCs were measured using the Fr...
